I'm John Tewolde, a senior at Grand Blanc High School in Michigan and Lead Programmer for FRC Team 1506 Metal Muscle. I've been in FIRST Robotics for eight years, moving from FLL to FTC to FRC, and I taught myself Java in seventh grade after my team lost its programmer with no one to replace him. That's more or less how I approach most things: figure it out, then build something that outlasts the moment you built it in. Outside robotics, I've co-authored IEEE research papers on machine learning and computer visionI also play cello with the Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra and referee youth soccer. What I care most about is access. I've spent over two hundred hours mentoring newer robotics teams, several from underserved Flint-area schools, because the biggest gap in CS usually isn't ability, it's exposure. That's what I want to bring to the Ambassador role.
