Getahun Simeneh Aniley was born in Rama Adi Arba’te (ራማ ዓዲ ኣርባእተ), a small town in Northern Ethiopia. With an Eritrean and Gojjam root heritage from his parents, he grew up surrounded by a rich blend of cultures. This diverse background helped him understand, appreciate, and deeply love the Habesha (ሓበሻ), community, shaping him into a strong advocate for Habesha unity and fostering his commitment to bringing people together. It taught him to see unity in diversity and shaped the way he relates to people—with respect, warmth, and openness. At age 12, Getahun moved to Finote Selam in the Gojjam region. He later continued his education at Haddis Alemayehu Special Boarding School in Debre Markos, an environment that strengthened his discipline and independence. Boarding school life expanded his worldview and laid the foundation for his academic dedication. Coming from a humble countryside family, Getahun has faced economic challenges throughout his life. Despite these difficulties, he has consistently strived for excellence and overcome obstacles to pursue his education and ambitions. These experiences have instilled in him resilience, determination, and a strong work ethic. Getahun is currently studying Medicine at Bahir Dar University, pursuing his passion for science, healing, and community service. Alongside his medical studies, he is also completing a four-year management program, reflecting his strong interest in leadership and his desire to serve as a bridge between people, ideas, and opportunities. In addition to medicine and management, Getahun has a growing passion for the applications of computer science. To satisfy this curiosity, he has taken various online and summer courses, exploring ways technology can address real-life global challenges. He speaks more than five languages, with Tigrigna(ትግርኛ) and Amharic(አማርኛ) as his mother tongues, which enables him to connect with diverse communities, communicate effectively across cultures, and inspire others globally. Getahun’s character is gentle yet bold, playful yet insightful, and above all, he deeply values every human being as a human. These qualities guide the way he interacts with others, approaches challenges, and inspires those around him. As an aspiring ICSC ambassador, Getahun hopes to inspire others, and even himself, to learn, enjoy, and employ computer science in meaningful and impactful ways. He believes the combination of medical knowledge, management skills, and computational thinking can empower young people to innovate, explore, and contribute solutions to the world’s complex challenges. FYI: Getahun is on the way organizing a movement called: ማሕበር ሃገር ፍቅሪ and anyone who identifies themselves Habesha could join the temporary telegram group at https://t.me/orthopera
